Charmed! Harassment Policy

Charmed! has had to deal with relatively few issues in the past and would like to keep it that way, so we are laying out a clear statement of the expected standard of behavior, though our attendees have almost always met it.

Charmed! is dedicated to providing a harassment-free convention experience for everyone regardless of gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or operating system. We do not tolerate harassment of convention participants in any form. Convention participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the convention without a refund at the discretion of the convention organizers.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Persistent unwelcome hovering around someone, sometimes known as puppy-dogging, is also a form of harassment and as such is unacceptable. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior the convention organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of convention staff immediately.

Convention staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the convention. We value your attendance.

Please be doubly mindful of the hotel staff. They are not members of our community and they are working. Please let them do their jobs and be respectful of the fact that they might not at all be interested in hypnosis but that being nice to you is part of their job. That niceness is in no way consent. Do not bother the hotel staff with offers to hypnotize them or provide other services.

We expect participants to follow these rules at all convention venues and convention-related social events. We cannot control what you post on social media, about our event or otherwise, or how you behave in your daily life, but these are pretty good policies to live by outside our event as well.

NOTE ON SEXUAL IMAGERY AND SPEECH :
Charmed! will schedule events that most people would consider “sexual” or “kink” in nature. We do not believe in the censorship of sexual imagery or speech, but we are committed to balancing the concerns of artists and artistic output with the issues of harassment. Participants or Exhibitors displaying illegal examples of sexual imagery, or using non-consensual sexual speech with the purpose of harassment or degradation may be sanctioned or expelled from the convention without a refund at the discretion of the convention organizers. When choosing to attend events please use your best judgment to determine if the content or performance is within your comfort zone.
